You need a list. That’s a given. It’s the one thing above all else that matters most. After it’s built, it’s yours to use any time you want. Just push a button and print money – literally.

The Squeeze Page – The landing page is the page that has your opt-in form on it. This page is the one that asks them for their email. So, obviously it has to be well designed. And it needs to be simple to see how to opt in. You’ve also got to make a strong “close”.
The biggest mistake you can make is not having a clear call to action. This “close” tells your visitors what you want them to do. And if you don’t include it, they won’t opt in. Oddly, if you don’t make it clear, people will be confused and end up doing nothing.
If you want to add some extra juice to your opt-in page add a video to it. This will grab your visitors attention and keep it. And you can repeat the call to action several times int he video. And you can have the video just tell them to fill in your form after it’s done playing.
It’s OK, if you’ve never made a video before. You can hire freelancers to do this for you for a few hundred dollars. Or you can get email list tools that include video squeeze pages.
The Incentive – The second component is the reason they are opting into your list. People need a good reason to part with their email address. Email privacy is very important to most people. This means your bribe needs to be very attractive.
You have to provide value in your bribe for it to be good. It has to be something that people actually want. And something from which they can derive a benefit. A few ideas:
- An eBook
- Some useful software
- A video
- A multi-part email series
You’ve got to create some great content. It’s got to be something helpful for your new subscribers. It goes without saying it must be free. If you make it good enough, they will give you their email in exchange.
If you’re worried about creating this content, don’t be. Here again, you can hire freelancers to create this for you. Simply tell them what the topic is and they can write the content. First of all it has to give the subscriber what you promised – valuable information. It also has to generate revenue for you! The easiest way to do this is to market affiliate products in the emails. This is such a simple solution because you don’t have to create the product. And it enables you to generate cash right away from your new list.
The Thank You Page – The last bit is the thank you page. This is where your visitor goes after opting into your list. A great thing to do here is provide some immediate value. This helps them feel they’ve made the right decision giving you their email. It also helps to build the relationship. So when they get your email, they’re happy to hear from you.
This is another case where you can get a complete marketing package. Or you can do it yourself. And write it all yourself. Or hire ghost writers to write them for you.

It doesn’t matter if you do all of this yourself. Or hire someone else to do it for you. Or if sign up for a “complete package” solution. The important thing is that you build your own list starting now. Because as soon as you’ve got your own list . . . You’ve got a license to print money!
